What is the signal chain for the data that is transmitted via Centauri? Is it an Optical-to-Optical transfer or conversion?

Modified on Mon, 13 Sep, 2021 at 2:16 PM

The transmission of data happens via an Optical-Electrical-Optical signal path.

When transmitting data, Centauri is connected to an optical fibre cable via an external SFP, which then converts the optical signal to an electrical signal. From there, Centauri converts the electrical signal to a laser-powered optical signal and transmits the data to the Centauri device on the other side of the link.

Once the signal reaches the second Centauri device, the process explained above happens in reverse, delivering the data to a fibre optic cable connected to the receiving Centauri device.
