What is Scintillation and how to avoid it?

Modified on Wed, 09 Feb 2022 at 02:51 PM

Scintillation takes place when hot air pockets rise and diffract the wireless optical signal/laser beam.

This causes frames/packets to be dropped.

The most effective way to tackle this issue is by following a strict guideline during the site survey to determine the best possible location to install the Centauri (avoid low to ground installation, heat vents area, metallic reflective surfaces, etc).

In the portal there are documents to help the user understand how to successfully install a Centauri link (product manual, site survey report, Site survey guide, Site Survey Tool, best practices).

The Site survey guide and best practices provides the user site selection criteria and the recommended installation guidelines - https://transcelestial.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/51000235506-centauri-site-survey-tool-sst-and-site-selection-guide

Proper training sessions will be conducted for the Partner/SI to rollout the links effectively.
