CENTAURI does not support FEC. What happens to dropped packets?

Modified on Tue, 28 Sep 2021 at 12:48 PM

Packet loss is represented in monitoring or alerting reports as a small, temporary reduction in the Tx/Rx data rate.

While Transcelestial implements a very basic capability on the physical layer to allows for data recovery in the event of a dropped link, CENTAURI is still a Layer 1 device and does not provide any Layer 2 or Layer 3 capability.

As a result, the switch or router to which CENTAURI is connected will decide whether or not to retransmit any dropped/lost data packets, according to the appropriate protocol being used (for example, TCP or UDP).
