What happens to videos or images captured by CENTAURI?

Modified on Fri, 31 Mar, 2023 at 7:33 PM

The camera in CENTAURI is an integral part of the device's positioning, alignment and tracking system. You may wonder what happens to videos or images captured by CENTAURI, during operation of the device.

During regular operation CENTAURI's camera does not retain any images or video frames. The device calculates various metrics based on real-time analysis of the images it "sees" from the camera's data stream, discarding the "visual" information once those metrics are logged.

Transcelestial may, in the course of providing support for our products and services, view and capture video and still images from the camera feed on devices.

This information is used strictly for analysis while troubleshooting issues and optimising the performance of our products.

Even then, the settings of the camera (ISO, aperture size, resolution and frames per second or shutter speed) are specifically optimised for our automated alignment and tracking system in detecting other Transcelestial devices in a narrow field of view.

When Transcelestial does capture and store videos and still images from any device camera stream:

  • This information is used strictly for analysis and support in troubleshooting issues and optimising the performance of our products;
  • This information is accessible only to Transcelestial employees on a “need-to-know” basis;
  • Unauthenticated and unauthorised access to this information is prevented through the use of industry-standard user authentication and authorisation mechanisms, including the enforced use of strong passwords and two-factor authentication by employees who access the systems where this information is stored.
