What happens when ambient temperatures get too hot for CENTAURI?

Modified on Thu, 23 Feb, 2023 at 3:56 PM

CENTAURI is designed to operate outdoors in ambient temperatures ranging from -40 to 50° C (-40 to 122° F).

CENTAURI has internal temperature controls designed to automatically protect internal components from damage in the event that ambient temperatures exceed the standard operating range.

When the ambient temperature exceeds 50° C (122° F), link performance will degrade as the device decreases the maximum allowed output of laser transmission power in an effort to reduce temperatures inside the device enclosure.

If at some point CENTAURI is no longer able to self-regulate its temperature and the maximums safe internal threshold of ~65° C (140° F) is exceeded, then the device will actually shut down.
