Using both PoE and 48V DC Power with CENTAURI

Modified on Tue, 14 Mar 2023 at 07:01 PM

Power may be supplied to CENTAURI via POE 802.3at/802.3bt or 48V DC.

The device is rated for 48V DC / 56V POE DC 60W 2.0A.

CENTAURI prioritises the use of different types of power supplies when connected to both a 48V DC power source and Power over Ethernet (PoE), as follows.

When connected to both a PoE power source and a 48V DC power source, the 48V DC power connection has priority and CENTAURI will use the power from the 48V DC connection. There is no capability to select which power source is tasked as primary, at this time.

In this scenario, if the PoE power fails there will be no impact to availability as CENTAURI always uses the 48V DC power source when that is available.

If the 48V DC power source fails, CENTAURI will shut down and restart, using PoE for power. This assumes that the 48V DC power source has not been restored in the interim. The restart process takes about the same amount of time as a regular cold boot.
